Are You Ready for WIBAR 2025? (Wisconsin Bike-a-Rama!)

Two years ago, our Wisconsin Pathfinders ministry debuted a new summer event, WIBAR: Wisconsin Bike-a-Rama. What is it? Basically, it's a chance for Pathfinders to get together from around the state and to earn their Cycling and/or Advanced Cycling Honors. If you're interested in the requirements for those honors, you can check them out HERE. Bottom line: attendees learn a lot about bicycle care, etiquette, and proficiency, and will have to do at minimum of 50 miles of riding (or 75 miles, for advanced) over the course of two days. So this is a great event if you love the outdoors, if you have lots of energy, or if you simply love getting out on a bike and enjoying the weekend cycling with friends.

The first event (back in 2023) was hosted at the Hylandale Church, at which attendees met, camped, ate, and embarked on biking trips. It was attended by a medium-sized group and everyone involved had a lot of fun. The location was excellent, due to its proximity to the Elroy-Sparta State Trail, which is our Nation's first rail-to-trail and boasts over 30 miles of length, complete with multiple underground tunnels. Pastor Myoung Kwon, Triathlete from Waukesha, was our guest speaker.

This year, the event will be on June 13-15, and will be hosted by the Green Bay Church. Attendees will be camping in the ball field outside of the church and will be meeting and eating in the church's fellowship hall. They will be, again, earning their Cycling Honors (both basic and advanced), this time on the Mountain-Bay State Trail, which boasts 83 miles of length between the cities of Green Bay and Wausau. Our guest speaker will be Pastor Keith Hannah, from the Indiana Conference, who is a veteran of many similar Pathfinder biking and outdoor trips. The cost will be $40, and will include food, a trail pass, a commemorative WIBAR tee shirt, and lots of fun.

Who is able to attend this event? While it is mainly an event for Pathfinders, Pathfinder leaders, and Pathfinder parents, it is also an informal camping event and is open to friends. If you have a friend who is Pathfinder-aged, who would like to join in on the fun, bring them with you! We'd love for them to be able to make friends in our Pathfinder clubs and maybe even consider joining one in the future. For older youth and young adults who would like to earn the honors and help out with the event, there is also room for that.
Registration for this event is OPEN and you can sign up HERE. If you have more questions, please contact Glen Morrow or James Hopkins IV, as they are the coordinators in charge of making this event happen (their contacts are shared on the registration page). We look forward to seeing you June 13-15 in Green Bay!
