It might not seem like it, due to the high piles of snow outside, but Spring is upon us. And you know what that means? That's right: Adventurer Fun Days are coming! This article will inform parents about what Adventurer Fun Day is, how to sign up, and what some of the specifics are for this year's events.
What is Adventurer Fun Day?
Adventurer Fun Day is, you guessed it, a fun day for Adventurers (kids ages 5-9). It used to be a single one-day event per year, but because of its popularity, it has grown into two one-day events: one in April (in Northern Wisconsin), and the other in May (in Southern Wisconsin).
It is a totally FREE event! Lunch is provided. Materials for activities are provided (unless specified in the sign-up). Fun songs, group games, and fellowship with friends is also provided.
The events takes place on Sabbath, between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. This year, the North event is being hosted on April 11 by the Chippewa Valley SDA Church (919 10th St W, Altoona, WI), and the South event is being hosted on May 9 by the Milwaukee Central SDA Church (2229 Terrace Ave, Milwaukee, WI). We are very grateful to our local leaders for their help in organizing these events and their support of events like this that build up our young people.
How do I sign up?
You can sign up for the North event (Altoona, April 11) HERE
You can sign up for the South event (Milwaukee, May 9) HERE
We want to clarify: this event is primarily for Adventurer Clubs; however, we're not super legalistic about that. If your kids are in the 5-9 age group, and your church doesn't have an Adventurer Club, you are welcome to come. If your kids are in an Adventurer Club, but the rest of the club doesn't want to come, you can sign up just for you and your kids. In other words, it's not a full club activity that only the Club Director can sign up for.
What's the Theme for this year?
This year, we're focusing on the theme Sewing & Serving as Adventurers earn the Sewing Fun Award, learn about the story of Dorcas (Acts 9:36-41), and play fun games. You can look at the details of the honor HERE (it's worth checking out this link to the North American guidelines, as there are different versions of the Award that vary by country). Again, it's a free event and we're not asking for families to bring any specific materials, so you can just come and enjoy and learn a new skill!
