On Sabbath, April 11, the Chippewa Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church hosted Adventurer Fun Day North. About fifty were present, representing Chippewa Valley, Hudson, Clear Lake, Wisconsin Academy, Frederic, and Hylandale churches. The theme was Sewing & Serving, and focused on how sewing is a useful skill that we can employ in helping others in need. You can view the requirements of the Sewing Fun Award HERE.

Pastor Zack and Summer Camp staff began the day with a fun sing-along time, followed by a short sermon about the life of Dorcas (Acts 9:36-45), a laundry-themed relay, and a brief history of the art of sewing and the development of the materials we use today in sewing.
After worship time was over, the gym was rearranged so that everyone could sit at tables, and a TV screen was rolled up to show close-ups of how to do certain types of stitches. Parents assisted Adventurers with needle, thread, and thimble, as they worked together on two main projects: a pincushion (filled with cotton stuffing) and a beanbag (filled with lentils).
Lunch was provided and served by members of the Chippewa Valley Church, and we are very thankful for their support and help, as well as for the permission to use their facilities for this event. Special thanks to local Adventurer Club Director, Jackie Goss, and her husband Steve for putting so many of the details together that had to do with food, snacks, audio/visual, as well as having the gym set up for us before we even arrived.
Materials like thread and cloth were donated from the Oxford Seventh-day Adventist Church. Special thanks to Judy Minier, who even cut squares of cloth for us ahead of time. The Adventurers filled out a thank-you card because this donation helped make this event even more possible.
This was an awesome event, where young people learned a helpful skill, in the context of using it to help others, all for God's glory. We can't wait to do it again, on May 9, at the Milwaukee Central Seventh-day Adventist Church! If you are in the area and you would like to register for that event, you may do so HERE.
